Events in and around the area includes gorgeous trail rides in the flat lands and surrounding Rocky Mountains, horsemanship shows, halter shows, Gymkhana’s, roping, trail rides, cross county events, reining, dressage, jumping, driving, eventing, racing, cutting, and of course the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association Headquarters and Hall of Fame, the Horse Expo in March, and the Annual National Western Stock Show and Expo in January at the National Western Complex in Denver.
There are great parks around the region with great trails. Mueller State Park is beautiful particularly in the fall for color ride with the aspen leaves laying out a yellow carpet on the trail. Just gorgeous. Of course some of the trails closer to home are great ways to see wide open spaces with Pikes Peak views or beautiful ponderosa pines up and down some hills. Consult Diana for more information and links to El Paso County or Douglas County Parks and Trail systems. She would be happy to share some of her favorites.
About Diana's horses...2007 was a sad year for our household.
Diana lost two horses in 2007, but still has a horse and a pony. The Percheron which passed last Spring due to colic was a great show off that loved parades and trail riding. You will see him in his last parade which was St. Patrick's Day, 2007. She also had a Clydesdale that passed due to old age a year ago. Diana still has an Arabian/Quarter horse likes to run like the wind. This horse needed a friend so Diana purchased a dapple grey pony and she is teaching her son to ride and teaching the pony to drive.
